Perception of Chat GPT among GENZ in Mizoram University

Education and information management have undergone tremendous change due to the rapid adoption of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), in the field of library science. Chat GPT has become one of the most widely used AI tools for students, especially those in Generation Z (Gen Z), which is the group born between 1997 and 2012. This study examines the knowledge, accessibility, benefits, and constraints of Gen Z students at Mizoram University regarding the use of Chat GPT. The study employs a qualitative methodology to survey 203 students from various departments, aiming to understand their perceptions of Chat GPT as a learning tool. The outcomes show that although Chat GPT has many advantages for academic support, task evaluation, and content creation, it also creates issues with over-reliance, critical thinking, and the possible decline of traditional.
