Abstract

This study evaluates the information literacy skills and awareness levels of research scholars in five state universities located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. A structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data, and the universities were identified through the official UGC website. The findings reveal that many research scholars visit the library daily, primarily to review old print journal articles, while their awareness of electronic resources varies. Although electronic formats are preferred for accessing information, orientation programmes play a critical role in helping scholars effectively utilize resources for their research projects. The study suggests promoting regular library use, raising awareness of specific library resources, encouraging access to print materials, and enhancing awareness of online research tools through workshops, seminars, and tutorials to support scholars in their academic endeavours.
