Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The study generalises the findings and gains an in-depth knowledge of the characteristics of the literature used by the researchers in the field of Environmental Science. Researchers today are faced with increasing pressure to get research work published. Academic departments are expected to meet specific levels of publication output. They are turning more and more to citation analysis for objective parameters of impact assessment. A total of 50 Ph.D. theses in Environmental Science awarded from 2001 to 2016 were analysed, which contain 13,231 bibliographic references.
